Tom Ford
Feather-tastic!
01/21/2011

I've always been a huge fan of feathers! I have them in my home, I had them in my wedding, and I'm drawn to anything covered in them! That's why when I walked past the windows at Tom Ford the other day, I was ecstatic. Gorgeous feathers frame out the windows and the dapper men's accesories lay within. It's such a calm, serence contrast to the cold, bustling, gray streets.

I love the lavender tones that the feathers pick up and the amber lights that shine in the window. It's such a beautiful color palette.

Van Cleef
Van Cleef's Voyages Extraordinaires
01/20/2011

The window display at Van Cleef & Arpels take the viewer on an extraordinary adventure. The windows, inspired by author Jules Verne and designed by Douglass Little are each miraculous dioramas that pull you into their world. Each is set up as a "toy theatre" based on a different Jules Verne story. As I was walking down the street, the windows literally stopped me dead in my tracks. I had to gaze in! It doesn't hurt that their amazing jewelry is scattered throughout the displays.

This display is an overall tribute to Verne's fantastical journey-based stories, and yes, the waves actually move!

Modeled after 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, this particular window was my favorite because it's so detailed. I don't envy the person who had to cut out all of that seaweed!

This window is based on Around the World in 80 Days, and yet again, the balloon and clouds move!

This window full of oversized mushrooms was inspired by Journey to the Center of the Earth.

Louis Vuitton
Louis Vuitton Windows
01/19/2011

In our very first issue of Laura Day Living, I posted a DIY craft video showing you what you can create with a dome and...well, anything! I was delighted when Louis Vuitton's current window display caught my eye the other day. They have transformed their purses into animals and stacked them up floor to ceiling in domes. I had to share this with you, and if you live nearby, it's definitely worth paying a visit to the flagship store on 57th and 5th Avenue.

This is one rabbit that everyone would love to multiply!

I doubt you would find this raccoon digging through the trash!

I would welcome my wake up call if it came from this rooster.

In this case, it IS easy being green.

No need to be crabby with this crustacean.

Barneys NY
Light it Up!
01/18/2011

Here in NYC, it may be freaking freezing outsie, but it's neon HOT inside of the windows at Barneys. The windows, each dedicated to a different fabulous designer, and each given a different glowing color are a great contrast to the gray gloom of Winter. In our latest issue, I took you inside of my home and gave you a look at my very own neon art that hangs in my GUEST BEDROOM (scroll down to the slideshow.) I'm hoping this is a trend that doesn't go anywhere soon because it has me glowing...pun intended!

Designer Alaia is known as the "King of Cling" and the frocks this orange neon light is glowing upon are no exception. Skin tight and fresh-just like an orange peel!

Givenchy is known for it's space-age minimalism. This simple, cool, geometric display is right in line with that aesthetic.

Lanvin defines modern elegance. I think this display was my absolute favorite...maybe because the pair of shoes got their own chair.

Sleek, slick and chic-three words that describe Bottega Veneta and this uber cool couple as well. I mean, this dude is swinging on a neon swing carrying some neon tubes with a red neon mustache? I don't think it gets much cooler than that.

Celine is known for it's high end sporty appeal. I can definitely imagine these blue-headed ladies on their way to a tennis match!
